Programme description

Today, more than ever before, each and every one of us should be involved in voluntary actions meant to protect the environment and recreate the nature in which plants and trees should regain their well-deserved place. If each of us plants a tree or another plant today, we shall all breathe in a cleaner air tomorrow and nature shall reward us!

National Planting Movement

"Millions of People, Millions of Trees" is a National Planting Movement aimed at promoting volunteering activities within companies and organisations and institutions in planting trees or other plants in towns and their surroundings, according to the annual planting calendar from autumn and spring.

Any company or organisation or institution can participate in the programme! The town hall may approve the areas they recommend for the planting activities. Volunteers from the company/ organisation will plant trees or other plants. Those people registered in the program will purchase with personal funds trees/ plants, will arrange for the volunteers’ transportation and will invite pupils and students from their respective towns in the common volunteering actions.

The results of the activities of planting will be listed on the website so that all the participants registered in the contest will be automatically introduced in the ranking of the most active companies which got involved in the effort of recreating the environment from Romania, by planting trees or other plants. See contest rules.

Objectives

  1. Raising awareness of the major role that the Romanian society should play in protecting and recreating the environment HERE, NOW and TODAY, by planting trees and other plants;
  2. Promoting to the public at large the volunteering environmental protection activities and our involvement as responsible corporate citizens, associations and state institutions in this movement
  3. Educating the young generation in the spirit of environmental protection, by actively involving its representatives in the programme
  4. Obtaining measurable national results assessed every year in November
  5. Creating a national movement – the power of example for other countries in Europe and in the world.
